If it’s been a while since your last check-up, walking into an annual physical can feel a little uncertain. Here’s what typically happens so you know what to expect.

What happens during an annual physical?

Your provider will review your medical and family history, check your vital signs, and perform a general exam. Additional screenings may be added based on your age and risk factors.

Do I need to fast before my physical?

If bloodwork is planned, your provider may recommend fasting beforehand. Our staff can let you know when scheduling your appointment.

How long does an annual physical take?

Most physicals take about 20 to 30 minutes, though more time may be needed if additional testing or discussion is involved.

What should I bring with me?

Bring a list of current medications, your insurance card, and any questions or concerns you’d like to discuss.

Can I combine my physical with other services?

Yes, many patients combine their physical exam with vaccines, gynecologic care, or other services during the same visit.
